Background and approach:
A
PlanItAction workshop is a
process for developing visual models of
business problems and their solutions.
The primary visual planning tool used in the half day
workshop is the Affinity process. This tool has
it's roots
in post-World War II operations research in the United
States and Europe as well as Japanese Quality tools developed
from 1972 through 1979. It is an extremely powerful technique
for organizing group discussion and rapidly driving comprehensive
analysis to actionable decisions. It is particularly effective when
it is necessary for the group to identify critical success factors
from a large number of ideas, opinions and issues. In addition,
it allows the group to identify cause and effect relationships,
map out in increasing detail the full range of options that need
to be considered, prioritize issues based on known weighted
criteria and identify likely events and contingencies that will
determine success.
